Two records, one provisional for Tiger women's track and field

PITTSBURG -- The Fort Hays State women's track and field team picked up another provisional performance and broke two school records at the 5th Annual Gorilla Classic this weekend.

Summer Kragel won the high jump after clearing a provisional height of 5-7.25, just two inches off the school record. Her new personal-best jump moves her into a tie for 14th on the national list.

Emily Salmans set a new program record in the 800m run, crossing the line in 2:16.80 to place ninth. She broke an eight-year old record set by Jordan Ortega by .37 seconds.

Peri LangeLindsay ShupeLayne Needham and Lyric Holman combined to shatter the program record in the 4x400m relay by more than three-and-a-half seconds. The Tigers combined to post a time of 3:51.70, just .07 longer than the provisional mark.

Lange also ran the third-fastest time in qualifying for the 60m hurdles, posting a time of 8.97, while placing ninth in the 600y run with a mark of 1:26.81.

The Tigers will head to Lincoln, Neb., for the Nebraska Tune-Up next Friday for their final meet before heading into the postseason with the MIAA Championships at the end of the month.
