76-year-old man dead after SW Kansas crash

SEWARD COUNTY— One person died in an accident just before 8:30a.m. Friday in Seward County.

A 1998 Chevy Malibu driven by a 67-year-old woman was westbound on Tucker Road and stopped at the stop sign at at Country Estates Road ( U.S. 83, according to Liberal Police Captain Robert Rogers.

The driver proceeded across the intersection and failed to yield to a southbound 2010 Kenworth semi driven by a 30-year-old. The semi struck the Chevy on the passenger side.

The 76-year-old passenger in the Chevy had to be extracted from the vehicle. EMS transported both occupants of the Chevy to Southwest Medical Center.

The 76-year-old passenger was later air-lifted to a Wichita hospital where he died, according to Rogers.  Names of the victims have not been released along with additional details.
