MARYSVILLE, Missouri – Eight top-eight finishes would be part of four national qualifying marks and a new school record for the second-straight day for the Cloud County men's track and field team to close out the Northwest Missouri State Bearcat Open in Marysville, Mo., on Saturday.
It would be a record-breaking performance in the shot put for a second-consecutive week by freshman Courtney Lawrence as the Jamaica native would take third in the event with a throw of 17.68 meters (58 ft. – 0.25 in.). A win for the T-Birds would come in the high jump as Elijah Wilson would set a national qualifying mark with a jump of 2.01 meters (6 ft. – 7 in.) while Richard Newman would narrowly miss out on a national qualifying mark and take second in the event with a jump of 1.96 meters (6 ft. – 5 in.).
A third-place finish in the triple jump from Jaelin Pinckney in his collegiate debut would land the freshman a national qualifying mark of 14.49 meters (47 ft. – 6.5 in.) while Overland Park, Kansas native Chanler Taylor took fifth (13.91 meters, 45 ft. – 7.75 in.). Sophomore Sanitino Kenyi would set his second national qualifying mark of the weekend to take third place in the mile run with a time of 4:12.29 and is now qualified for the national meet in three events.
Two other top-eight finishes would take place by Cloud County athletes on Saturday, with Marcquiece Cade taking sixth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.55 while the 4x400 meter relay team of Stephen Holland, Andres Hernandez, Wayde Roman, and Nevan Tebb-Lolar put together a sixth-place finish with a time of 3:22.79.

Cloud County will compete in the Sunflower State for the first time this season coming up next week when they take part in the Wichita State University Invitational. The two-day meet will get underway with multi-events on Thursday, followed by a full day of action on Friday.
