KHP troopers find 33 pounds of meth hidden in secret panels

CHEROKEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating suspects on drug charges after a traffic stop.

On Sunday morning, the Kansas Highway Patrol made a large seizure of Meth and other drugs near Baxter Springs, according to a social media report from Baxter Springs police.

Crystal Marie Peters was arrested Sunday at approximately the same time as the meth bust, according to Cherokee County jail records. She is being held on drug charges but authorities have not confirmed her involvement.

Police and Baxter Springs Fire Department hosted the visit and assisted in cutting open the secret panels where the drugs were hidden.

"A big thanks to the Highway Patrol for making the big busts. Ended up with 33 pounds of meth."
