KHP trooper injured after Jeep crash into parked patrol vehicle

SEDGWICK COUNTY — Two people including a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper were injured in an accident just before 12:30a.m. Saturday in Sedgwick County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Jeep Liberty driven by  Albert L. Plante, 41, Wichita, was  eastbound on U.S. 54 just west of Hillside in central Wichita.

The Jeep struck a 2019 Ford Explorer parked on the outside shoulder with its emergency lights activated. The driver identified as KHP trooper Matthew Wagner, 22, Colwich, was seated in the vehicle.

EMS transported Plante and Wagner to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Wager has worked as a trooper since December of 2018, according to the KHP.
