The WPD animal services section and WPD animal cruelty investigator went to work on the case.  The investigation, tips provided to Crime Stoppers, and witness interviews led to the arrest of 26-year-old Raykesha Hardyway of Wichita on requested charges animal cruelty, abandonment - failure to provide adequate provisions and an outstanding warrant.

The Animal Action League described the dog as “very sweet and loving." The group is asking for donations for his medical care. The dog was dehydrated and will need slow, small meals over a long period of time because feeding him too quickly could be dangerous. It will likely be months before he is eligible for adoption.

The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
