Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid Quotes

December 20, 2019

OPENING STATEMENT: “Alright, the only person that’s out right now is (Andrew) Wylie. (Morris) Claiborne will be another one that we probably have to talk about, but he did practice and did ok. Wylie did not practice. We look forward to the challenge of playing the Bears. Great football team. Great environment for football. Chicago has a great stadium and a great place to play. We look forward to that challenge. The guys have had a good week of practice and we’ll finish it up tomorrow and head down there. With that, time is yours.”

Q: What have you seen from (Terrell) Suggs on the field these last few days?

REID: “He’s done a nice job. He looks like he’s in good shape and moved around well. He picks things up fast. Very meticulous on all the note taking in meetings. It’s incredible. He puts it all down there and it’s something to watch, a guy that’s been around that long and how he goes about everything, down to a T. Impressive.”

Q: Will he be up on Sunday?

REID: “There’s a good chance. We’ll just see. I’m going to talk to him here and we’ll just see.”

Q: Did you say he was literally taking notes?

REID: “In the meetings, yeah.”

Q: How typical is that?

REID: “They’re supposed to take notes, but not every word. He puts it all down there. Pretty impressive.”

Q: How was Mecole (Hardman) today with the glute injury that popped up?

REID: “He practiced and he did good. He’ll be alright. It was a knot in there.”

Q: How much do you expect Damien Williams to come back full?

REID: “We’ll see. He practiced and did a good job so we will see how that whole thing goes. I’m going to check with him here and see.”

Q: With Wylie downgraded to out, does that mean Stefen Wisniewski will replace him in the starting lineup?

REID: “There’s a good chance and he took the reps. Andy (Heck) rotates all those guys, but he took the majority of them there and then Cam (Erving) has taken some. They can go in there.”

Q: What does their defense have other than (Khalil) Mack and their scheme that makes them so tough?

REID: “(Chuck) Pagano is a phenomenal coach and in particular, defensive coordinator. He’s just great at that. They have talent, really at every position. They can rush the passer. They can play the run. They’re huge upfront. They’ve gotten (Akiem) Hicks back so he’s a part of that. Then on their back end, they can cover. Very good defense.”

Q: Do you like the challenge of going up against a coach who you know well?

REID: “Yeah. Every week is a challenge in the NFL, but when you know the guy, and he’s been around the league a long time. There’s not a lot of secrets. You have to maneuver and do it well. I do, I appreciate the challenge.”
