32-year-old Kan. man dies after home invasion shooting

SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal shooting.

Just before midnight Tuesday, police responded to report of a shooting at a home in the 1800 Block of South Topeka in Wichita, according to Captain Brent Allred. At the scene, officers a 32-year-old suspect with critical injuries and a 35-year-old resident with serious injuries. EMS transported both to a local hospital where the 32-year-old died, according to Allred.

Investigators learned the 32-year-old went to the home armed with a handgun and knocked on the door. The 35-year-old when to the door and refused to let him in. The 32-year-old fired the gun striking the other man and forced his way into the home. As he entered to home, the 35-year-old retrieved another gun and shot the 32-year-old several time, according to Allred.

Police have reported no arrests in the case but believe the incident could be drug related.
