
KANSAS CITY —A firefighter was injured fighting a house fire Sunday in Kansas City, Missouri.
Just before 11a.m., Kansas City Fire Department companies were dispatched to a reported fire at Rochester and North Garland, according to Battalion Chief Riley Nolan. Crews reported smoke and fire showing from what appeared to be a vacant house in the 2500 block of Rochester Avenue.
An offensive attack fire attack was initiated with 3 hose lines. A house to the west was exposed, suffering some fire damage to its exterior. While advancing the hose line, a partial roof collapse occurred and companies evacuated, continuing to fight the fire from the exterior. The fire was placed under control at 11:21 a.m.
One KCFD firefighter was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a minor injury. The cause of the fire is under investigation by KCPD Bomb and Arson. City Planning and Dangerous Buildings have been requested to the scene. Red Cross has also been requested to assist with the occupants of the house to the west that was damaged.
