Arrest made: Kan. man dead after disturbance with girlfriend, 2 suspects

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal shooting and have arrested a suspect.

Just after 5a.m. a.m., Monday, June 29, police  responded to a shooting call in the 6900 block of E. Ayesbury Circle in Wichita, according to officer Paul Cruz.

Upon arrival, they located 25-year-old Joshua Steele, who was injured and unresponsive from a gunshot wound.

Medical personnel were called to the scene and performed life-saving measures. However, Steele was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation revealed that Steele and his girlfriend were at the home of a friend on Ayesbury Circle.  Zachary Province, 37, Haysville, arrived at the home, and a disturbance ensued concerning property. During the disturbance, multiple shots were fired, striking Steele.

Recently, Province arrived at an area hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his body. He was released Sunday afternoon and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on requested charges of 2nd-degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm, according to Cruz.
