Suspect charged in deadly Kansas park camp ground attack

MIAMI COUNTY —A man accused in a deadly shooting at a Kansas State Park campground has been charged in the case.

On Tuesday, 53-year-old Brian Scott Meysenburg was charged in Miami County District Court on one count of Murder in the Second Degree, according to Undersheriff Matthew Kelly.  His bond has been set at $1,000,000.

On June 20, emergency personnel were dispatched to the Pintail Point campground at the Hillsdale State Park near Paola for a report of a stabbing and a shooting, according to the Miami County Sheriff's office.

One person suffered a fatal gunshot wound. The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Bryan Hendrickson from Edgerton. Deputies also found one person with a non-life-threatening stab wound. That individual was transported to an area hospital for treatment and released, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies took Brian Meysenburg, 53, Overland Park, into custody and booked him into the Miami County Jail on a requested charge of second-degree murder.
