KANSAS CITY —Authorities are working to determine the cause of a fire in an apartment building in Kansas City.

Just after 9:30a.m. Tuesday, crews responded to a reported apartment fire in the 100 block of West 39th Street in Kansas City, according to Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins.

FIrst arriving crews reported smoke showing from the first floor of the three-story apartment building. Searches of the structure came back all clear. The first and third floors were vacant, however there were occupied apartments on the second floor.

The damage was limited to the first-floor apartments. After an initial Red Cross request it was determined that the second-floor residence would be able to occupy their apartments after the electrical for the first floor was isolated.
