SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal shooting involving teens.

Just after 8:30 p.m. Friday, police responded to a shooting call at the 2200 block of South Millwood Street in Wichita, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo.

Officers located  16-year-old Seaquori Smith of Wichita inside the residence with a single gunshot wound to his upper body.  EMS transported the boy to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The investigation revealed Smith was hanging out inside the residence with a 15-year-old boy. The 15-year-old was recklessly manipulating a firearm when a single shot was fired striking Smith in the upper body.

The 15-year-old called 911 and reported the incident. This is not a random incident, according to police. The boys are not related but did know each other, according to Rebolledo.  Police will present the case to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office.
