HASKELL COUNTY—Two people died in an accident just after 8:30a.m. Friday in Haskell County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2014 Dodge Ram pulling a horse trailer and driven by Ira Sage Dickinson, 21, Rock Springs, WY., was eastbound on U.S. 56 three miles west of Satanta.
The driver attempted to pass a 2003 Peterbilt dump truck driven by Jessie Allen Eckert, 49, Hugoton. The Dodge made contact with the dump truck drivers side front bumper.
The dump truck traveled into the south ditch. The Dodge pickup and trailer traveled into the north ditch. It rolled and the horse trailer detached.
Two passengers in the Dodge identified as Hadly G McCormick, 23, Scottsbluff, NE. and Cade Cinch Bullock, 19, Campo, CO., were pronounced dead at the scene.
McCormick was transported to Ziegler Funeral Chapel and Bullock to Robinson Funeral Home.
EMS transported Eckert and Dickinson to the Satanta District Hospital. The occupants of the Dodge were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
