Homicide: 49-year-old man found in Kansas alley

WICHITA, Kan. — The Wichita Police Department is investigating the death of a 49-year-old man as a homicide.

Around 8:45 a.m. Friday, officers and Wichita Fire Department crews responded to a report of a man down near the entrance to an alley in the 2400 block of North Jeanette. When fire personnel arrived, they found the man with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:53 a.m., according ot a media release from Wichita Police.

Officers secured the area, and homicide detectives were called in to investigate.

The investigation is still in its early stages, and details may change as it continues, but initial findings suggest the victim was shot somewhere else and collapsed after fleeing the scene on a bicycle.
