The Southeast of Saline Trojans picked up an excellent bounce back win against the Ellinwood Eagles tonight by a final score of 66-52.

With this victory the Trojans advance to 12-7 while Ellinwood falls to 15-4.

The Eagles got a ridiculous 35 point night from sophomore star Brit Dutton but couldn’t find much scoring beyond that, with just four other scorers putting together a total of 17 points.

“I thought we did a pretty fair job on him,” SES head coach Bryson Flax said. “With the exception of some of his free throws we made him work all night. He’s a great player but I told the guys ‘he’s not going to get 60, let’s just play our game.”

On the Trojan side Eli Sawyers put up 23 points of his own, and once again SES flexed their scoring depth, with 15 from Jaxson Gebhardt and 10 from Nakari Morrical-Palmer.

Things stayed close early on, but Southeast made several key adjustments heading into the second quarter, took control looking into the half and never looked back.

“I was really happy with the way they responded after the first quarter. The basket started to open up and we started to share the ball really well.”

The Trojans will be back in action tomorrow when they host the Republic County Buffaloes following the girls game.
