SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man for allegedly making phone calls to threaten court staff in Topeka.
On Friday, City of Topeka Municipal Court Staff received a criminal threat over the phone verbalizing the intent to cause property damage and disrupt judicial proceedings, according to Police Lt. Donna Eubanks.
Court staff made immediate notification to the Topeka Police Department. Officers, who are assigned to the court security detail, implemented additional safety precautions in direct response to the threat.
An investigation led to the identification, location and apprehension of the threat suspect 50-year-old Henry D. Kratchman in the 1300 block of SW Mulvane in Topeka.
Police booked Kratchman into Shawnee County Department of Corrections on a requested charge of Aggravated criminal threat.
