Kan. deputies find over a pound of meth worth $16K

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating  two suspects on drug charges after the search of a home.

Just after 8:30a.m.Thursday, deputies with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Task Force, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Topeka Police Department and Rossville Police Department, served a narcotic search warrant at a residence in the 3600 block of SW Kirklawn Avenue, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

Deputies and officers located over a pound of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the residence. The methamphetamine is valued at over $16,000.

They arrested Stephen L. Lester, 63, and Billy L. Markus,53, both of Topeka. They were booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections. Lester is being held on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. Markus is being held on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Christian.
