Kan. deputies catch Chick-fil-A armed robbery suspect after chase

DOUGLAS COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a suspect in connection with an armed robbery at a fast food restaurant in Lawrence.

just after noon on Friday, the Lawrence Police Department to the initial report of a strong armed robbery at Chick-fil-A, 2735 Iowa Street, according to a social media report from the Douglas County Sheriff's office.

Officers connected the vehicle to a report of of the crime.

Deputies stopped the suspect’s vehicle at U.S. 59 and N 1000 Road. The suspect initially pulled over and then fled south. A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper deployed spikes to disable the vehicle, and it came to a stop south of the Baldwin Junction.

Deputies took the driver, a 26-year-old Sapulpa, Oklahoma, man, into custody on suspicion of felony flee and elude charges. No injuries were reported. Beyond the tire damage to the suspect’s vehicle, no other vehicles sustained damage.
