GEARY COUNTY —Lightning caused fire at Geary Estates apartments, 1215 Cannon View in Junction on Saturday.
Firefighters from Grandview Plaza, Geary County, Junction City and Fort Riley all responded to the blaze in a 36-unit building, limiting the fire to the roof, according to a statement from the Junction City Fire Department's social media page. The apartment units that were damaged are now uninhabitable.
Investigators were on the scene Sunday to determine the amount of damage and verify the cause.
The Junction City Animal Shelter offered temporary shelter for those who may need to shelter their pets while clarifying housing arrangements.
There were no injuries reported.
