INMAN -- A Hutchinson man died in a one-vehicle accident in McPherson County Tuesday afternoon.

According to McPherson County Sheriff Jerry P. Montagne, deputies were dispatched to Kansas Highway 61 and Eighth Avenue north of Inman for the report of an accident. 

When they arrived, they found that a blue Honda Accord driven by Andrew A. Tolbert, 27, of Hutchinson, had struck a bridge pillar. Despite lifesaving measures from Inman Fire and McPherson EMS personnel, Tolbert was pronounced dead at 4:27 p.m., Montagne noted in a news release.

Through investigation and witness statements, it was determined that Tolbert lost control of the car when it hydroplaned on the wet pavement. The car left the roadway, entered the west ditch, and struck a bridge pillar, Montagne reported.
