Update: Woman accused of setting another woman on fire

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa —Law enforcement authorities  investigating a woman they suspect of setting another woman on fire and hitting the victim in the face as another person tried to put out the flames in jail on multiple charges after an arrest late Monday.

Just after 4:30 a.m. Monday, police were called to North 15th Street in Council Bluffs and found a woman identified as Christine Weilage with severe burns outside a homeless services center, according to a media release. EMS transported the victim to a hospital in Omaha for treatment.

An investigation found that the victim was involved in a disturbance with the suspect identified as 37-year-old Lindsey Maves who sprayed the victim with a flammable substance and lit her on fire.

Maves then hit the victim in the face with something as a witness tried to put out the flames and fled the scene. Police located her late Monday afternoon, brought her in for questioning and later arrested her on requested charges of attempted murder, arson and willful injury, according to a media release.
