2 dead after Jeep strikes a cow on Kansas highway

LOGAN COUNTY —Two people died in an accident just after 3:30 a.m. Monday in Logan County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a  2015 Jeep Wrangler driven by Raymond H. Kennedy, 45, Glendale, Arizona, was eastbound on U.S. 40 eight miles west of the Kansas 25 Junction.  The Jeep collided with a cow that was on the roadway.

The driver attempted to break to miss the cow. The Jeep swerved, entered the north ditch and rolled.

Kennedy and a passenger Brenda G. Carrasco, 54, Peoria, Arizona, were pronounced dead at the scene and were transported to Baalmann Mortuary. They were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
