KANSAS CITY, Mo. —Law enforcement are investigating a homicide along a highway in Kansas City.  It could be a road rage shooting.

Just before 1a.m. Monday, patrol officers were dispatched to Gregory and Interstate 435 on a reported shooting, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.

As officers arrived they located a vehicle off the roadway on southbound Interstate 435, just to the south of Gregory. Inside the vehicle was an adult male victim suffering from a life threatening gunshot wound.

Officers began performing lifesaving measures and Kansas City Fire Department EMS simultaneously responded. Medics took over medical care and transported the victim to a local hospital. A short time later hospital personnel declared the victim deceased.

This is being investigated as a homicide and no one is in custody at this point. Interstate 435 southbound  starting at 63rd street was closed for the several hours during the overnight investigation.
