Plea hearing for Kan. man accused of killing pregnant girlfriend

SEDGWICK COUNTY — A Kansas man charged in the death of his pregnant girlfriend will return to court Thursday afternoon.

Matthwe Wayne Criscenzo, 20, is scheduled to attend a plea hearing before Judge Jeffrey Goering, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office. He is  charged with 1st degree murder and aggravated battery, according to the  District Attorney's office.

On May 25, police arrested  Criscenzo in the 700 Block of Laura Street in Wichita in connection with the shooting death of 20-year-old Naomi Oglesby of Wichita. At the time of the incident, she was pregnant, according to Officer Rick Pena. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she was pronounced deceasd.

Doctors were able to deliver her infant who was transported the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at a Wichita hospital.
