
FINNEY COUNTY —First responders in southwest Kansas were called to an injury crash on Saturday evening, according to a media release from Garden City Police.
This crash was one of several recent collisions involving drivers failing to stop or yield at traffic signals or signs. At 6:45 p.m. Saturday, police, fire, and EMS units responded to the 1800 block of E. Kansas Avenue for a multi-vehicle collision.
When they arrived, Officers found a Chevy Tahoe on its side and a GMC van with significant front-end damage. The investigation revealed that the van had been stopped at the intersection of Kansas Avenue and College Drive.
The driver failed to yield before proceeding southbound through the intersection. The van struck the eastbound Chevy Tahoe, causing it to roll onto its driver's side and collide with a traffic light pole. Several occupants of the Tahoe sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital by EMS.
The driver of the van, a 78-year-old man, was cited for Failure to Yield at Stop or Yield Sign.
