Kansas teen drag racing crashed during police chase

THOMAS COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident during a pursuit by law enforcement just after 10p.m. Friday in Thomas County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a Thomas County Sheriff's Deputy  attempted to stop a 2008 Ford Mustang driven by 16-year-old Nerlyn Y. Arriago of Colby for drag racing.

The teen driver failed to yield and began driving at a high rate of speed eastbound on College Drive in Colby and continued onto County Road R.

The driver lost control of the car just east of County Road 23 at around 105 mph. The car slid sideways into the north ditch rolled and came to rest on its top.

EMS transported Arriago to Citizen's Medical Center. He was also not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
