Charles Dagley, Beloit
August 13, 1951 - April 14, 2021
Charles Milton (Chuck) Dagley, 69, passed away April 14, 2021, at his home in Beloit, Kansas, with his wife of 20 years, Leanna (Prewett), by his side.
Chuck was born to Tom and Beverly (Pretz) Dagley on August 13, 1951, in Long Beach, California. The young family moved north to Alaska in 1954, where he spent most of his life. He grew up in Fairbanks, and worked with his father in many different endeavors, including gold mining and dog mushing. After graduating from high school, Chuck moved to Anchorage where he worked in the aviation industry for many years, and then on to general maintenance work, with a specialization in electrical. He had a vast knowledge of how to build and repair many things, with a keen eye for details.
He loved to share his experiences with anyone and could talk for hours about fishing, hunting, bear-guarding, air-boating, snow-machining, living off the grid, the Alaska railroad and on and on. His happiest times were spent at his cabin which was accessible only by the flagstop train or snow machine. Health issues prevented him from continuing to enjoy the Alaska lifestyle, so when Leanna retired from her job with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, they moved to Beloit to be closer to her family.
Chuck was proud of his role as step-dad to Leanna’s daughters, Melissa, Stephanie and Cassie, and loved being Papa to the grandchildren, Tyger, Nikki, Natalie, Shaun, Dylan, Makenna, Landon, Emerson, Alexis and Trever, all of whom survive him. Sons-in-law knew they could count on him for assistance or advice when needed.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Beverly. He is survived by his siblings, Barb (Tootie) and James (Nino), his adopted children, Derrick and Karen, as well as his step-daughters and their children. He leaves behind many friends, relatives and in-laws with fond "remember whens."
Per Chuck’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Leanna will take him back to their cabin in Alaska one last time. Donations in his name to Solomon Valley Hospice, Beloit, Kansas, will be greatly appreciated.
