Homicide: 16-year-old arrested for death of Kansas woman

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating the suspicious weekend death 46-year-old  Hester Workman of Topeka in her home have made an arrest.

As a result of the investigation, Workman's death is now classified as a homicide and a 16-year-old Topeka juvenile has been arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections requested charges of First degree murder, Felony murder, Aggravated burglary, Theft and Obstruction, according to Lt. Kelvin Johnson.

Just after  7p.m. Saturday, police responded to a home in the 2800 block of SW James in Topeka after a 911 call requesting medical personnel, according to police Lt. Kelvin Johnson.

At the scene first responders located Workman who was deceased. Police released no additional details early Tuesday including the gender of the teen in custody.
