SEDGWICK COUNTY —A suspect who admitted setting a fire near the historic Orpheum Theatre, 200 N Broadway Street, in Wichita  will learn his fate Thursday.

Jeremy Wycoff, 34, is scheduled for sentencing hearing before Judge Rodger Woods.  In September, Wycoff pleaded guilty to aggravated arson according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

On the evening of April 10, crews responded to report of a fire near the 102-year-old theatre that is undergoing renovations.

"Thanks to the quick response of Wichita Fire Department, the situation was contained before it caused any major damage to our building or our neighbors along First Street," the theatre announced on their social media page.

Three days after the crime, police arrested Wycoff and booked him into the Sedgwick County Jail.
