KANSAS CITY—One person died from injuries in an accident that occurred just after 12:30p.m. Thursday in Kansas City.
A man had off-loaded a grey Dodge Caravan from a transport truck at the Manheim Auto Auction, 8750 NE Parvin Road in Kansas City, Missouri, according to KCPD Captain Jake Bechina.
The Dodge Caravan was not fully in park and began to roll backwards. The man attempted to enter the driver’s side of the vehicle as it rolled backwards. The van struck a parked Freightliner tow truck which pinned and crushed the man in between the Dodge and the Freightliner.
The man was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
This is fatality #5 in 2026 compared to #4 at this time last year, according to Becchina.
