SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating two early morning shootings in Topeka and have identified a suspect.
Just after 5 a.m. Friday, police responded to a shooting in the area of the 1800 Block of SW Gage Blvd. in Topeka, according to Police Lt. Edward Stanley.
First responders found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
Then at 5:44 a.m., police responded to a shooting in the 1000 Block. of SW Plass Avenue. First responders found one individual suffering from gunshot wounds.
All three individuals were transported to a local area hospital, with two of these individuals injuries to be considered non-life threatening and one considered to be life threatening.
At this time the two incidents appear to be related and police identified a suspect and that individual is currently in police custody, being treated at a local hospital.
Upon medical clearance, police will publicly identify the suspect, make an arrest and they will be booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.
