WYANDOTTE COUNTY —Fire officials are investigating a fireworks explosion that injured two children in Kansas City, Kansas.
Just after 11p.m. Sunday crews responded to the area of N. 46th Street and Leavenworth Road, according to a statement from Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department.
EMS transported a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old for treatment of serious injuries including burns to the hands, chest, face and shrapnel injuries.
The fireworks that caused the injuries may have been illegal, according to the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department.
