Sheriff: Kan. teen accused of shooting girlfriend in the leg

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a weekend shooting that sent a woman to the hospital.

Just after 11:30p.m. Sunday, deputies were sent to a disturbance call for a shooting in the 4300 block of Wood Hollow, according to the Sedgwick County Sheriff's office.

Deputies located 19-year-old Jorianah R. Williams, of Wichita, suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.   EMS transported her  to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries. She remains. hospitalized.

The suspect, a 17-year-old  black male of Wichita, was arrested at the residence and booked into the Sedgwick County Juvenile Detention Facility on requested charges of aggravated battery and an outstanding warrant. 

The victim and suspect are in a romantic relationship, according to the sheriff's department. Detectives are collecting evidence and conducting interviews to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
