Kan. woman with forgery convictions stopped while cashing a check

SHAWNEE COUNTY –Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas woman with previous convictions of forgery on new forgery allegaions.

On July 10, police responded to a reported fraudulent check at Azura Credit Union, 1129 S Kansas Avenue in Topeka, according to police spokesperson Rosie Nichols.

The bank reported Tina M. Funk, 31, of Topeka, was attempting to cash a check that was fraudulent.

It was then found that Funk had four outstanding warrants. As a result of the investigation, Funk was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Forgery; Making or altering a written instrument; unknown conviction, Identity theft, Theft by deception; Value less than $1,500, Theft by deception; Value $1,500 to $25,000 and the Warrants.  

Funk has previous forgery convictions in Atchison and Jefferson County. She has an ID theft conviction in Morris County, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
