Police are looking for a man who set fire to a residence in central Salina early Thursday.
Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester reported this morning that officers were sent to a residence in the 400 block of West Republic Avenue for the report of a house that appeared to have been burned. The tenants of the residence told officers that there had been a fire in the outside of the residence at around 1 a.m. Thursday, but they had been able to extinguish it, Forrester explained. They were unsure of what could have caused the fire, he added.
According to Forrester, a review of surveillance video from the neighborhood revealed the house was set on fire by a white male wearing light colored clothing and shorts. The video shows the fire being set and the male running from the area, he reported.
Total damage was estimated at $1,000, Forrester noted.
