Police: Victim in critical condition after SW Kan. party fight

SEWARD COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a stabbing and have made an arrest.

Just before 3:30a.m. Jan. 16, police responded to report of a stabbing in the 1500 Block of Fairview in Liberal, according to a media release.

At the scene, officers found a 24-year-old Hispanic man with three stab wounds to his abdomen. EMS transported him to a Wichita hospital in critical condition.

Investigators learned the victim had been involved in an altercation with two other men at a party. One suspect grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim, according to the release.

As part of their investigation, police executed a search warrants in the 500 Block of North Cain and the 700 Block of East Curtis in Liberal. Police arrested a 20-year-old man and 25-year-old  man on requested charges of attempted first-degree murder, according to the release.

Police did not release the name of the suspects or provide an update on the victim.
