WASHINGTON COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before 8:30p..m. Saturday in Washington County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a John Deere lawn mower driven by Benjamin R. Goeckel, 50, Linn, was stationary on the east side of 864 Indian Road facing north six miles west of Linn. The mower turned left and a northbound Polaris Ranger side by side driven by Jeremy R. Helms, 37, Linn, struck the mower.
Goeckel was pronounced deceased and was transported to Frontier Forensics. Helms and a 9-year-old passenger on the UTV were not injured.
