Kanopolis man cited after two-vehicle accident Tuesday

Two people were injured when a pickup rear-ended an SUV that had slowed to turn into the drive of a club Tuesday afternoon.

Eugene Alexander, 71, of Salina, was eastbound in the 1500 block of Old 40 Highway at approximately 4:40 p.m. Tuesday and turning into the drive of a club when the 2008 Mazda Tribute he was driving was rear-ended by a 1998 Chevrolet 1500 pickup driven by Clifford Gustus, Jr., 42, Kanopolis, Saline County Undersheriff Brent Melander said this morning.

Both drivers were evaluated by EMS personnel and both had possible injuries, Melander said. They both indicated that they would seek medical attention on their own if necessary.

The Tribute had to be towed from the scene. The pickup will have to be removed by Gustus, Melander said.

Gustus was cited for following too closely, Melander said.
