U.S. Marshals help capture Kan. teen wanted for murder

SHAWNEE COUNTY— Law enforcement authorities are investigating a deadly shooting and have captured a suspect.

On October 11, police responded to a shooting in the 1200 block of SW Clay Street in Topeka, according to Police Lt. Donna Eubanks.

First responders found 18-year-old s Ra’Juan Spicer,suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased by medical personnel at the scene. 

Police asked the public to help locate Reginald Rucker-Plakio, 17, of Topeka, in reference to the homicide.

On Tuesday, US Marshalls, Shawnee Sheriff Department Deputies and Topeka Police Officers located him near the area of 21st and Auburn Rd., and after a short foot pursuit were able to take him into custody without any injuries, according to Police Lt. Edward Stanley.

Later that evening, in relation to the investigation, Topeka Police Department Detectives served a search warrant in the 3400 Blk. of SW Kirklawn Avenue.

As a result of the investigation, Reginald Rucker-Plakio, 17, of Topeka, was transported to the Shawnee County Juvenile Department of Corrections where he was booked in on requested charges of Murder in the 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
