Suspect in deadly NW Kan. shooting remains jailed on $200K bond

Bond has been set for a man charged in the shooting death of a man outside of a Hays bar early Sunday morning.

40-year-old Keith A. Ostrom of Hays, was arrested outside of the Horseshoe Bar in the 1000 block of East Eighth Street in Hays.

Ostrom was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of 63-year-old Larry D. Braun, Ellis County resident. Braun was taken Sunday to Hays Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Ostrom's bond has been set at $200,000. As of Wednesday morning, he remained in custody at the Ellis County Detention Center.

Hays Police Chief Don Scheibler said the case is still under investigation but has been referred to the Ellis County Attorney.

Law enforcement officials have released no further details what may have led to the shooting.

No further court dates had been set as of Wednesday.
