
Kansas Wesleyan men's tennis fell to the Friends Falcons 4-3 in a Kansas Conference match on Saturday at the Salina Country Club.
Friends won two of the three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead in the match, before the teams split the six singles flights.
Wesleyan got its lone win at doubles in the No. 3 flight at Caleb Carter (JR/Oklahoma City, Okla.) and Brandon Sherman (FR/Overland Park, Kan.) beat Frank Iozzo and Christian Martin 6-4. Friends claimed wins in the other two flights as Hugo Prats Nicolas and Kerry Dunn beat Wes Robertson (FR/Edmond, Okla.) and Kyle Rice (JR/Topeka, Kan.) 6-1; and Nathan Watson and Benjamin Zoller beat Rodrigo Vera (JR/Lima, Peru) and Shingi Chingaya (JR/Wylie, Texas) 6-3.
In singles, the teams split the six matches as Friends won at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5, and KWU got wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6.
Prats Nicolas beat Robertson 6-2, 6-3; Dunn beat Vera 6-2, 7-5; and Joshua Manning beat Sherman 4-6. 7-5, 6-3 in the three Friends wins.
Chingaya beat Martin 6-3, 6-3; Rice beat Zoller 6-3, 6-1; and Carter beat Watson 6-4, 7-5 for the KWU wins.
KWU hosts Tabor on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Central High School courts.
