After hiding for a month, Kan. attempted murder suspect is in custody

COWLEY COUNTY —A suspect wanted for a shooting in Cowley County is finally in custody.

Earlier this month, police issued an arrest warrant and are asked the public for help to locate shooting suspect 25-year-old Levi Garwood, according to a statement from Winfield Police. The alleged crime occurred on November 22 near Main Street in Winfield. First responders found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. EMS transported the victim to a local hospital and later to a hospital in Wichita.

Detectives conducted witness interviews and reviewed audio and video evidence before seeking a warrant through the Cowley County District Court. Just after 4:30p.m.  December 23, Garwood was booked into the Cowley County jail, according to online jail records. He is being held  on a $500,000 bomd on requested charges of attempted second-degree murder.  Police have not released details of the arrest.
