Police: Driver struck Kansas girl walking her dog and fled

BUTLER COUNTY —A suspect is underinvestigation for a hit-and-run incident that critically injured a girl walking her dog in Butler County.

Just after 7pm on Monday, a car driven by 21-year-old Alex James Hinojosa struck the girl in the 1000 back of Campbell in Augusta, according to a report from Augusta Department of Public Safety.

The juvenile suffered critical injuries and was transported to a Wichita hospital.  Hinohosa left the scene of the accident, however debris in the roadway suggested the suspect's vehicle was a 2005-2009 Pontiac G6, unknown color.

Police asked the public for any information to help find the hit-and-run driver. Late Monday, police reported they made an arrest.  Hinojosa is being held on a $100,000 bond on requested charges of Aggravated Battery, cruelty to animals and failure to stop at an accident, according to theAgusta Department of Public Safety.
