MCPHERSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred just after 8p.m. Saturday in McPherson County have identified the driver who fled.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2004 Chevy Colorado driven by 25-year-old Brice Nolan Kasting of McPherson was southbound on 17th Avenue at Mohawk Road one mile east of Interstate 135 and struck a pedestrian identified as 59-year-old Pedro Amezcua-Cabrera of McPherson. Kastin then fled from the scene.
Amezcua-Cabrera was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Sedgwick County Forensic Science Center.
Kasting was booked into the Mcpherson County jail Sunday night and is being held on requested charges of attempted 2nd-degree murder; unintentional but reckless, accident involving death or personal injury, DUI, reckless driving and improper passing, according to online jail records.
