Police: Woman jailed for Kansas gas station killing

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning at a gas station in northeast Wichita have made an arrest. Just after 4p.m. Tuesday, police booked 59-year-old Rhonda Mukes of Wichita on requested charges of 2nd degree murder, according to the Sedgwick County Arrest report.

At 3:13 a.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the Valero gas and convenience store, 2011 E. 21st Street in Wichita, according to police spokesman Andrew Ford. Upon their arrival, they found 33-year-old Darries Mitchell of Wichita suffering from gunshot wounds.  EMS transported him to Wesley Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

Police will present the case to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
