KANSAS CITY —Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire that damaged three homes in Kansas City.

Just after 3a.m. Wednesday, crews were dispatched to a house fire in the 3600 block of Benton Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri, according to Battalion Chief Riley Nolan.

On arrival, crews reported heavy smoke and fire showing from a 2-story house, with close exposure houses on the north and south sides. An offensive attack was initiated in the main structure with 3 hose lines, but due to structural integrity issues, crews backed out to a defensive position.

Both exposure houses and a detached garage were also involved, with multiple crews and multiple hose lines being utilized to contain those fires.

One house was occupied, the other two were vacant. Red Cross has been ordered for one adult. No injuries were reported.
