SEWARD COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 8:30a.m. Saturday in Seward County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2021 Ford F350 driven by Stanley Wayne De Weerd, 73, Rock Valley, Iowa, was westbound on U.S. 54 just east of U.S. 183. The pickup struck the drivers side of a 2022 Kenworth semi driven by Emmanuel Terrell Lee Jimmerson, 41, North Las Vegas, Nevada, who was exiting from the Love's Travel Stop Western entrance, initiating a left turn to travel east on U.S 54.
A passenger in the pickup identified as Arlis Kay De Weerd, 72, Rock Valley, Iowa was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Hornung Mortuary. EMS transported Stanley De Weerd to Wesley Medical Center and Jimmerson to Southwest Medical Center. All three were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the K HP.
