Homicide: 14-year-old KC boy dead, girl hospitalized

KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating another homicide in Kansas City.

Just after 12:15a.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to the 1700 block of E 97th Street in Kansas City, Missouri on a reported sound of shots, according to Officer  Alayna Gonzalez.

As they approached the scene,  a bystander flagged down  officers and reports several people were involved in an altercation that lead to gunfire in a nearby parking lot.

All involved individuals were observed fleeing in unknown directions prior to police arrival. Officers were notified that a 14-year-old boy and a girl under age 16 arrived to an area hospital suffering from gunshot wounds

The boy, identified as Teandre Gibson was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The girl had non-life threatening injuries.

Police had no details indicating what lead up to the shooting and have not reported an arrest.. This incident is being investigated as a homicide.
