Violent Kansas robbery suspect caught hiding in a shed

SHAWNEE  COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a burglary and robbery have captured a wanted suspect.

On March 20, police asked the public for help to locate 33-year-old 

 Thomas “Tommy” Lathrom of Topeka, about an ongoing aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary incident that happened on March 1, 2024.

Just before 6a.m. Thursday, police located Lathrom at a residence in the 3600 block of SE 6th Street, according to police spokesperson Rosie Nichols.  Lathrom was attempting to hide in a shed behind the home. He barricaded himself inside the shed for a brief period, but was taken into custody without incident.

Police booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Burglary, Battery and Theft. He is being held without bond.
